Johannesburg 2013 saw the opening of a retail space combined with eatery in Greenside JHB, as an extension to the Taylored Spaces brand. The project was a labour love for Joanne given her experience in Retail Homestores, but was also a way to extend the brand.
The initial renovation of the space was a challenge given it’s long narrow layout but it soon became a well-loved, busy meeting point for professionals, creatives and locals alike to meet, eat and browse the one-off pieces, accessories, and furniture items. The studio continued to run alongside this but in 2014 the Studio’s steady growth needed a more fulltime focus, and the Store component of Taylored Spaces, closed its doors.
The business continues to focus on product design for their clients and further to this venture created Lighthouse Collection which is a custom designed range of locally manufactured accessory lighting for use in domestic as well as corporate interiors and is also sold by other Interior design professionals and select homestores. The team takes on other retail projects for their clients, the planning and design thereof, as well as project management of the build and fitout.

TAYLORED
SPACES
This range of custom-designed accessory lighting is sold in Interior stores as well as to designers for their projects. It was born out of a desperate need to find lighting for our own projects, which were beautifully made and not mass marketed into every store.
South African lighting at the time was scarce, and most stores keep the same limited ranges. The lights are contemporary as well as classic, with attention to detail – they are extremely versatile as well as can be customized.
